Psychological/Mental Health Assessments
Mental health assessments are conducted when there is evidence of depression, anxiety, anger or a thought disorder such as Schizophrenia. They are also conducted when the person is misusing substances. Often persons with mental health problems engage in therapy prior to having a proper assessment and this may lead to a person not receiving treatment in the most effective or most efficient manner. The purpose of the assessment is to provide an accurate diagnosis with appropriate recommendations based upon the diagnosis. The assessment typically consists of the following:
Interview
Collateral interviews may be used
Questionnaires related to mental health concerns
Personality Inventories
Review of relevant medical/mental health records
